I’ve worked at FFKR Architects for 13.5 years

How would you describe your role/job?
Marketing Director

What are the rewards of your job?
I really have an amazing team at FFKR Architects. I am so grateful to work with such amazing people in marketing, graphics, business development, and design strategy.

What are your challenges?
Convincing people that I do not possess magical powers. We’ve all heard it, “Give it to marketing so they can work their magic.” It’s not magic. We are skilled, dedicated, and damn good at what we do.

What has been your most meaningful project?
Rebranding effort for FFKR Architects. For our 40th anniversary, I was asked to refresh our look and visual brand. I researched the history of our look, compiled a competitor analysis, and designed the new logo. Once the core brand look was established, our graphic designer created the brand book and business collateral. It was a difficult project as it was done 100% in-house. At the final approval for implementation, we had 100% buy-in from leadership.

6 years (I think?)

What is your SMPS role?
Special Committee Chair

How has SMPS membership helped you?
It has helped me by expanding my national network of colleagues, who are now friends. Having a network of marketers whom I can reach out to for advice or just fun has been invaluable.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
“You are a natural leader, so go be one.” I’m paraphrasing here. Ellen Parrish gave me this advice when I was doubting myself and unsure of how well I was leading a larger marketing team. To the point advice, (classic Ellen) and just what I needed to hear. I am forever grateful.

What’s on your bucket list?
Dive in Hawaii, Australia, Canary Islands, Maldives, and the list goes on…
